bicycle from jaipur

this is the drawing of the series based on my own photos.
I clicked this photo in Jaipur in 2005 when i was making a film on Himmat Shah.
later I selected the image to do this drawing.
I still wonder - it gives me more pleasure to draw these images as if just taking photos are not enough.

Roti Kapda Makan aur Condom

photo-Tejal Pandey/ Times of India
day-1
15 august 2009

on 15 august 2009- we painted the image bought by Priyanka Borpujari.
the image was based on a great Manoj Kumar hit film 'Roti Kapada aur Makan' (bread, cloth and shelter) .

here it will intresting to share that- the great HIT Hindi song- 'Baki Kuchh bacha to Mahngai mar gayee..' ( watch this song on Youtube here)
this song is banned on the all india Radio.
Priyanka added the condom in the basic nesecities of life in urban city.
when i met her on the street to paint this project on 15 august 11 am, nobody knew that this work of ours will be creating headlines in the newspapers across the city.
(The whole gang of paiters- chinti, Deepak, Priyanka and Vijay Lakshmi.

My childhood friend Deepak Mer, a fine art graduate from Benaras Hindu University, who stays just across the tulsi pipe road joined us to paint with his daughter and wife. thus we manage to paint this whole wall in just two hours.
in the begining, when Priyanka showed the printed art work to be painted- the organizers were not sure- what to say. they were trying to object the idea which may not work on the public space.
but we were sure the little open humor will certainly bring an smile on the people's face. and it worked.
the best compliment came from the group of men working in the Indian Oil petrol pump.
the 4-5 men came with a ornage drink just for us as the token of appriciation for painting on the wall in Mumabi's Sun.
and certainly we both really appriciated the gesture.

and the next day we decided to paint our separte images.
